You are probably money ahead by buying them from a dealer.....Chicago HD or Zanotti. You could have yours chromed, but you'd be "bike-less" for the interim. Brown's in Texas does show chrome quality and does nothing but motorcycle parts.......

Good luck!

Courtesy Chrome in Villa Park Illinois 630.832.1862 does reasonable work and will charge $85ea leg if your not local shipping will push that figure to right around a set from HD.

I bought a set of stockers off ebay and had them plated, I then swapped them out and had the stockers powder coated black (not sure which way I was gonna go) stuck with the chrome......... so now the black lowers are for sale.(sorry Chris! I found a new local guy)

So you can always do something like this if your willing....

As crappy as Harley's chrome fasteners are, their chrome in other places is very good. Their chrome lowers especially. Having some chromed yourself could be a crap shoot. Nothing worse than peeling or rusting chrome.

Remember.........Chrome won't get you home, but black will get you back!

IMO, Harley's chromed lowers aren't that great. Take nearly any set and look down them long ways and see how wavy they are. That is from not enough polishing.

If you get a set from a good plater and compare them to a set of the HD ones, there is a world of difference. Even a top notch plater usually only charges about 150-200 bucks a pair to do them.

I just bought, and installedthe front end kit from Harley (Chicago Harley). It comes with everthing you need (expect a new set of seals and o-rings). You'll probly need the parts of the kit anyway (chrome spacers, chrome "beer cans", etc.)

You can save money by going after market. There are alot of chromers out there that are good. I know of 3 in the Houston Area. If you want I can send you their info. However I did a chrome exchange from this place near Dallas. I will have to look them up too. There work is great and I am happy. With the chrome exchange there is no down time. I paid $165. I thought the front end from HD was $440 PN# 46335-04 for my bike.
