Hey all, new to the forum. I am a previous owner of a 2000 RKC that I loved but had to sell just a couple years back. I am back in the market now and I came across a 96 FLHPI with 80K miles. Looks real nice and in excellent shape and listed as stock, no squeaks, no leaks. Asking $5300.
If its Fuel Injected.. don't get it.. the 96 had a very early FI system and its very difficult to service and find parts for. I had a '96.. Trust me on this.
That bike you're looking at is an Evo. If you decide to buy it call into the Evo section, where you will find fellow owners and up to date info and help, if and when you need it.
there's a echo in here..... do not buy a bike with the early EFI...it's a mess.
the efi was intriduced in 1995 and have less power, less MPG and higher emissions than comparable carb bike.
an evo cop bike may have milled heads which means you can't just bolt up parts- the angle for the intake manifold seals is slightly off, stock pushrods won;t work...
a carb conversion can be done for about $600~$1500 depending how handy you are and how savvy at swap meet deals.

OK, thanks for the heads up. It is FI so I think I will pass.

Thanks, Mike. Yeah pretty loud and clear, I appreciate all the replies and I will pass on this particular bike.
sorry to stomp on your puppy, but we may have saved you.
Evos are great bikes- I have an 88 cop bike.
just keep looking around- a 2002/2003 may be in your budget and will have better version efi if equipped.
the efi version I waited for was the 2007+.
carbs went away after 2009.
a model you might be able to swing is the FLHT electraglide standard.
come with plain aluminum motor, no radio and no tourpak...and has a carb.
these were the bargain of the range
