I am changing out my stock forks for chromed forks from ***** shiney. When I drained the left fork tube the fluid was red, when I drained the right tube it was clear. What would be the reason behind the two fluids being different. The fluid is stock from factory.. Any opinions on what weight fluid I should put back in them?
mine was nasty smelling, and black, and didn't even feel like oil. and that was at 15k......
I went with the se heavy and like the feel much better. lots less fork dive, and not as 'springy'... some folks think the heavy is too thick and go with a 50/50 mix of type e and se heavy. whatever you do, don't go with the race oil. you might as well pour some concrete in there.
remember, the standards are not across the board when dealing with fork oil viscosity, one company's 5wt may be equivalent to another's 10wt.
