My Tracks, you can even put phone in airplane mode and it works. I've used it for several day and cross country trips, works damn near perfect.

I've been using Glympse for a while now, and it's almost perfect. You control who sees it, and how long they see it. You can't "forget about it" and continue to be tracked - you need to turn it on, and it stays on for 4 hours.

Well, you set the duration of any "Glympse" you send, from 15 minutes to 4 hours.
It is very nice, and the recipient of your "Glympse" doesnt need to have Glympse installed.
I find the user interface a bit frustrating, but otherwise a clever and useful app
