Default Jagg vs Ultracool

For those who have run the latest editions of these coolers, how are they holding up. Any problems with leaks, durability, installation, ect.? Judging by previous threads, there seems to have been some problems with the earlier models. Just trying to decide if this is a worthwhile addition to the Wards fans here in Fla. and if it's enough of an upgrade over the stock 2012 cooler. Thanks in advance.

I live in Florida and run the Jagg Fan assisted along with the Wards fans. The Jagg is way better than the stock oil cooler that came on my bike . I've never had heat issues with this set up.

I run the Jagg (no fan) with Ward's w140 degree thermostat. Also have Jason's Fan's as well.

Also have mine set up with braided hoses and AN type screw fittings.

It's night and day compared to the HD one a had installed.

On my 2010 Limited, the stock oil filter developed a leak in the fin area. Replaced it with the Jagg 10 row (no fan) cooler. I also have Jasons fans. The Jagg is so far ahead of the stock HD cooler, in both design, quality, and function, that it's a no-brainer upgrade. If you are in stop and go traffic every day as a commuter in a very hot climate, consider the fan assisted Jagg option.

I posted my install with photos of my Jagg 10 row cooler on this forum. Maybe a search will help you find it.

I have a stock 09 flhtcu w-96" motor that i installed wards cooling fans along with an ultracool oil cooler with dual elec cooling fans both at the same time working collectively together reduced oil temp 50+ deg f on hot 90+ deg HHH summer days.

I have had the wards fans & ultracool oil coller on the bike for 1 season/8,500 miles thus far with no issues with either of those cooling mods/units.

The Oil now running 50+ deg F cooler (motor also has to be running x-amount deg cooler too) on hot summer days resulted in:

* reduced valvetrain / lifter noise.

* stopped detonating (pinging) when using HD's rec 91 octane fuel for the stock 9.2 compression 96" motor my bike has.

* post installing the 2 cooling mods that reduced oil temp 50+ deg hot oil pressure was increased from 8-10psi @ idle & 32-35psi @ cruise without the 2 cooling mod to now 18-20psi @ idle & 45-48psi @ cruise with the oil & motor hot in 90+ deg F outside summer HHH heat with the 2 cooling mods & spectro 20w-50 oil specifically engineered & formulated for lrg air cooled HD v-twins.

Hot oil pressure ran approx 5psi or so lower with a bit more valvetrain noise in same cond in my bikes motor when it had HD's Syn3 & M1 v-twin in it both being syn 20w-50 bike oil then the spectro 20w-50 oil for hd's did in my bike in same cond & heat.

* hot starts post fueling are easier/faster due to motor, starter & battery being a bit cooler.

* bit less heat is coming off motor so little more comfy to ride in summer temps.

* motor now retains noticeably more pwr/trq & crisper throttle response on hot days due to engine/oil/intake/throttle body etc all running a bit cooler.

" It's night and day compared to the HD one a had installed "

Well not really & heres why i say that when talking std oil coolers.

Thats because having no cooling fan-s on a std type oil cooler on a motorcycle renders the oil cooler almost useless when its needed most like for example when " sitting still at stoplights and or when in slow mowing traffic " .

Thats because at stoplights & in slow moving traffic there little to no air moving thru the oil cooler in those cond resulting in little to no effective cooling of the oil & or motor again " when its needed most sitting at stoplights or in slow moving traffic " where it's crucial to have elec cooling fans on a motorcycle oil cooler esp with a lrg disp air cooled HD V-twin.

I have wards fans & ultracool oil cooler with dual elec cooling fans which working together reduced oil temp 50+ deg on hot summer days that resulted in 5-6 great improvements in perf & or ride comfort right off the bat .

If i turn off the cooling fans on the oil cooler the oil temp rises quickly when at stop lights & or when in slow moving traffic and when i turn the cooling fans back on for the oil cooler in traffic & at stop lights the oil temp go's back down again because there is ample good / cool airflow thru the oil cooler to effectively cool the oil.

Reducing oil temp 50+ deg F on hot summer days resulting in the multiple improvements in engine perf & comfort i already stated above in this thread is what i call a " DAY & NIGHT DIFFERENCE " in oil cooler perf! / LOL!!!

Too bad the majority of us(myself included) have to run antiquated air cooled motors and have to concern ourselves with oil temps.
It is for that reason alone I would consider the Ultra Lmited.
If I could swing it $$$S wise I would buy one.
I have an Oil bud cooler on. It is the biggest O C that is made and the most expensive.
They guarantee a 35 drop in temps. It does that but just shy of $600 bux is a lot of green.

I ran the ultra cool first gen and now ultra cool "the refrigerator".
Does what it's supposed to. No leaks. I put a mood glow light on the dash that changes colors softly as opposed to a bright led light telling me it's working when it goes on. No problems.

I have the Oil Bud and would not have anything else. I have no need for fans with the Oil Bud. Yes, it costs a little more, but in my opinion it is well worth it.

Yeah, it's good it just will not let me use my o2 sensors due to the the adapter plate/nub on the "bud" being so close to them (rinehart slimline duals).
So at and with that I am stuck using a PC-V for a tuner.
