Default Check your tensioners
Just tore down a buddy's 2005 ultra classic with 39000 miles and his tensioners broke as we took it apart.so if you are close to them miles,it could happen anytime.here is pic of his

my brother in law had his go on his 05 rk in the 30s I have 55 on my 00 ultra and all looks well knock on wood

Is the tensioner an issue with the 103B engines?

The tensioners are only an issue in 99-06 twin cams when they used spring loaded tensioners. 07 and up models switched to a different style chain and hydraulic tensioner system.

I inspected mine at 40,000. The primary cam tensioner failed at 41,655. It broke into multiple pieces and jammed up the oil pump. As soon as I heard a "whining metal" noise, I shut her down, resulting in minimal damage. Hydraulic tensioner upgrade on the way.

2004 Road King. I'll post pics in the next day or two. Got to get by the shop to get pics.

The only way to truly fix this, IMO is go gear to gear. OR you can do what I did. Explain this situation to the wifey. Explain this is a two grand fix. Bolster all the new impovments of a Rushmore. The stereo got her. She bought me a new 16 RGU for Christmas

My extended warranty covers the repair, but I like your suggestion better... explain to wife I need a new bike.
