I recently installed Wild 1's myself and I think anybody with any amount of do-it-yourself ability could do it as long as you have the HD Manual, and Ty Mank's post( https://www.hdforums.com/m_1328001/tm.htm ) on this Forum. As a matter of fact I think it is more valuable than the manual. Anyway, it will walk you through it step by step and it is complete and precise. My 518's cost $250and thelevers cost$58at Zanotti's, I also installed Magnum Sterling Chromite Cables(+2" for the throttle, Idle And upper brake, and stock length for the clutch) for $350 and they are superb. I saw another post about a guy whos brakes were leaking and he showed a pic of the front brake splitter under the triple tree and it looked like an accident waiting to happen. The Magnum line has a little disk that you bolt up under the triple tree that is sealed, there are no crush washers there. Anyway, save your cash and do it yourself and bask in the sense of pride you will feel in knowing that you did it yourself. You will also have this forum to tap for any knowledge needed.

I did it myself on my UC, and I'm a mechanical idiot.
But if you have the money and don't have the time or inclination, then pay someone else to do it.It's only money. There is some good info on the forums, combined with the Manual, it's pretty easy to do.IMHO

DI_Dave,

Your bars look perfect.
That is exactly what I'm looking for.

Sounds high to me. I spent 369 for my apes and braided cables and wiring extensions. I took my time and did it myself and had no problems.

I'm the guy redhwk44 was talking about with the 'brake splitter' mounted under the triple trees. I surley don't hope I am waiting for an 'accident to happen'. I did have an issue with one of the crush washers not creating a good enough seal and leaking fluid. But since, have had it fixed and haven't had a drop since. I am new to HD and I didn't feel comfortable doing the work myself. Besides, other than the bars I wanted, I had no idea what else to buy. Cable length, etc. I paid $800 for them to get done, and sure, I could have attempted myself for less. But, if I had gotten stuck mid way through, I would have had to add a tow bill to a shop and have them fix the problem. Either way, yes, I wish I had tried it myself. But I didn't. The bars are on, and I love them. In the future I would love to have any of you guys, who know so much more than I, come over to my house and give me a hand. Any takers?
