OP pay attention to the little **** sticking out on the side of the lamp base. They sit at different depths. The lamp will only seat properly one way. Don't force the new bulb in. If it won't go take it out and rotate it 180 degrees and try again.

I was trying to twist the bulb out. But in order to remove it, I pushed in and turned counter clockwise. Yes, it came right out.
Damn, I'm sure the service guys at the dealership had a good laugh at me when I hung up with them.

Now you should upgrade to LED. Much brighter and faster responses. They plug and play and will last quite a bit longer than a regular incandescent bulb.
