i could do without the linked or abs braking on these bikes, but i come from the days where we only had back brakes and just spool front wheels.

Same here... damn bike can stop on a dime without even thinking.

Im old enough to remember when cars came out with ABS, some people had trouble adjusting or possible he needs to have dealer check it out.

My first ABS car locked the front wheels too readily at low speeds, in the silliest of situations. No way did that represent a sensible application of the anti-lock, or a good use of the technology and it wasn't easy to adjust to either. By contrast, my only ABS bike, on which I did 50k miles, never once activated, so could be said to have been a waste of the technology!

I change between brands of cars more often than I do bikes, but each one comes with things we have to get used to, which are in some way different to the previous car/bike, as OP is discovering! Some things are easier than others.

The only time I have activated the anti-locks on my bikes is when I first got them and did it on purpose. That being said I would still buy ABS if it were not linked. A bike to me is way different than a car when turning and braking.

OP, make your next mod upgrading your front suspension and I bet you'll adjust to them exponentially more quickly.

I've gone from glider brakes (wizard) to front and rear brake shoes to rear shoe with front disc and finally full discs. Were the abs brakes a gov. mandate due to so many new yuppie green riders or safety feature by mother Harley? I've been riding since the early 60s. Call me the unfrozen caveman biker because these things confuse me. Have I been part of the pavement? Yes, stretched 49 pan head with no front brake, 78 shovel had to put it down to avoid a tbone. My abs is in my hand and foot. I don't want a Asian computer handling my braking decisions. Oh yea...I pulled the fuse on my GMC Sierra 4 whl. Crazy? Probably but it's my choice.

One question I have that I haven't tested yet is, will the linked ABS act any differently if you brake in a corner than in a straight line. Are there two different algorithms or does it react from an application standpoint the same. Will it compensate for being leaned over while cornering and modulate the braking differently?

According to earlier in this very thread, no.

Nope acts the same turning leaning or going straight still the same. Still stops faster with ABS then without also. I've been down due to a locked up front wheel situation and have the shoulder scar to prove it thank you canadian roads and rain. So i like the ABS and after i was fixed up I wished my old bike had it cause i probably never would have gone down with it.
