AsI've said before,at 43 and on this type of bike, I have really no desire to haul a$$ anyways... I find myself cruiiiising along with a big grin on my face and just enjoying it all! These bikes are BUILT for cruising, not high speeds. Sure it'll spank most cars off a stoplight quite handily, but it's just not a speed machine generally speaking.
Had a rear blowout when I was young and dumb... rear end seemed to want to pass the front... actually it was just running on each side of the tube, but felt much more serious....
I amstill dumb, but as I learn from my past, "Road King Death Wish II" will never be produced....
Returing from a long trip last sunday I pulled to the side of the road to get something out of tour pack and waved the rest of the group by. When I was done I opened it up got it up to around 120 (strong tail wind) the bike got a little wobbley, I slowley rolled off the throttle and it felt ok around 100. Now I know it will do it so I dont have to try it again.
I caught myself goin down the empty tollway at 115 on my old Ultra, I relized it after I BLEW by a car. Thought to myself "damn that car is going way to slow for highway". Nope I was just flyin!!!!
O come on, to be sure... I am not the only one that has to bury the needle of any thing i drive, at least once??!?!?!?!.....
I've had the needle buried with max RPMs not long after break in...but that didnt even scratch the speed/feelings from my old rocket days.. GSXR doing 165... i think i could have squeezed out 170... but would have prob needed a downhill :P (another another mile of road...)
I chuckle when i hear most folks talk about speed. Most think that 90 is fast....
