Got out today to ride to do some errands. Bike has been trouble free for 3 yrs that I have owned it. Approaching stop light about 1/4 mile away bike stumbled. Recovered for about another hundred yards did it again. Got to stop light and bike was vibrating bad then shut off. Would not start. Coasted into bank parking lot. Bike will turn over and there is almost a full tank of gas. Fuel pump will come on when key is turned to start. Called progressive towing and got bike towed to house. Put new spark plugs in wires and grounded against heads. No spark at all across electrodes when ignition is turned on and bike is trying to start. Anyone have any ideas? Tried to retrieve any trouble codes but none showed up. Hard for me to believe a relay or coil just died but who knows. Any help would be appreciated.
Good advice - in fact you may find that repeatedly operating the switch may eventually let you start again. Don't be tempted to go for a ride though, replace it first!
Yeah, I have checked all the fuses that I can find. All check good. On the kill switch idea, If I put it in the off position, starter will not operate which is expected. Once I turn it to run, fuel pump turns on with all the other lights. The bike will then try to start but will not.
A failed crank position sensor can produce this symptom, and often with no code. Replacement is pretty easy and fairly cheap compared to other options.
