Default Programming Security FOBs

Looking at a getting a smart security system, either through boardtracker or ebay. the install looks pretty straight forward, except for programming the key fobs.

Looks like only a dealer can do this, so I have hesitation buying, as my local doesn't take kindly to buying parts elsewhere and installing or programming them. Just wondering if there is a work around for programming them yourself.

The manual say's Digital technician is used to assign fobs to H-DSSS. I couldn't see any other procedure.

Good Luck

If they have a problem find a dealer that doesn't. I'm not trying to be smart. My dealer has no problem installing any part I bring (so far).

Some I brought there and some came from other sources. Call around till you find one.

I hope this helps.

Yeah, pretty sure you need a dealer. Try calling around- hopefully you'll be able to find one that will work with you. Tell them you got it as a gift if they get all worked up about not purchasing it thru them. They're gonna get you for some labor, not like they're doing it for free. I can see a dealer being hesitant to install Non Harley parts that were not purchased thru them, but HD stuff? Probably charge you for 30 minutes of labor for a 5 minute job......

I bought a security fob off of ebay also to replace a missing one, and had to have a dealer program it. It is a dealer only thing. They charged 30 minutes only, about $50 to program it. As per the dealer, only 2 fobs can be married to bike at a time.
