Default Help choosing right Glide please!

Hello Everyone. I am a new guy here who needs help on trying to decide which bike to purchase. I wanta bike with Street Glide looks but with Ultra Classic features. Which is the better way to go, buy an SG and add stuff or buy an EGUC and strip and modify. My instincts tell me I'm going to save $$ and have less work with the EGUC but I'm not sure. Looking for some qualified opinions/advice. Thanks all!

You wont go wrong either way just depends what you want the ride to be like ...
the SG is a stiffer ride than the EG
I was in the market to buy a while a ago and was looking at the SG ..I ride 30000 km a year on average and was riding a Road Star .. I wanted a smoother ride
One of the sales people a the dealer took the time to explain to me the the SG is lowered and is a bit stiffer .. still a great bike ..and she also told me that it is cheaper to undress a EGUC than to dress up a SG .. tour pak $1000 - lowers $800 ..
Personnaly I wanted a bike I could ride all day and still be able to go out and have a beer .. so I bought a Road Glide ;-))

I also love the looks of the street glide as well, but I went with the Ultra mainly because it already had most all of the things that I would want to add later anyway. And yes, you will save alot of money if you plan on adding alot of the stuff thats on the Ultra by just going ahead andgetting the Ultra to begin with.Sounds like the Ultra would be best for you as well. I have seen a few guys on here that put quick connectors on the wiring to their tour paks for the radio and CD and they pretty quickly can remove the tour pak. I didnt bother because the wife loves riding with me so much that I just leave it like it is. I'll prob just buy me a good used Buell or Sportster to just ride to work and around town on. I couldnt imagine going any distance on any other bike than my Ultra now.

Ever considered getting a HD police EG. Generally you can get these at several 1000$ savings, especially if you get one that was used by a local PD and then customize as you wish.
Thats what i did. But i basically made my police bike and ultra without the intercom or cb radio. Saved me a ton of cash.

I guess it depends on the look and features you are looking for. I went with the StreetGlide because I don't like the rear lights on the Classic, nor will I ever add a tourpak. I like the streamlined look of the SG! The ONLY thing I wish the SG came with was cruise control.

I was in the same boat as You when I bought mine except the Street Glide didn't exist then.I bought a Classic and now I have the best of both world.I have the styling of the Street Glide and a touring bike that I can pack up for a long trip.I cost Me less than a Street Glide also.

My wife has a SG and I have a Classic. I have stripped the Classic to imitate the SG, and she added a tour pac (Chopped) to imitate the Classic. The cheapest was to go is to strip the Classic. Only problem is, you can not get a complete SG look without spending a lot of money. To get the real SG look you have to change both the front and rear fenders, and the turn signals, as well as do something with the butt ugly seat on the Classic. You also need a rear lowering kit. Part of the look of the SG is definately the lower rear.

If you can live with a partial SG, then you can strip the Classic by removing the bumpers around the front and rear fenders to clean things up, and you can remove the guard rails around the saddlebags, andchange to a chopped, smokedwindshield. Make the tour pac quick detach and you are real close to the LOOK.
