Default gotta love LRS

Just ordered my second shield from LRS. Stepped up to an ultra elite from just the ultra and got a size smaller. Just have to say the customer service from them is second to none.

Totally agree, got a new ultra shield from them in Nov. Unbelievable price/quality/service, also got one of their LED headlights. Plug & Play, basket included, 20 minute install, trim ring fit perfectly, and a great price during their sale.

Here you go:

Currently, most LRS windshields are made from Impact Modified Acrylic. Our ELITE series of windshields are made from Glass-Coated Polycarbonate material.

Acrylic, Impact Modified Acrylic, and Polycarbonate

Acrylic (Trade names Plexiglas and Lucite) is one of the most transparent (Clear) materials known. It is used to make fiber optics which transmit light signals over long distances. While acrylic has greater impact resistance than glass, it is breakable.

Impact Modified Acrylic (IMA) is made by adding butyrate to Acrylic and significantly improves its impact strength. We have had a UPS truck drive over one of our Ultra windshields to prove that it can take a beating. IMA has moderate scratch resistance because of its relative hardness and is an good choice for windshields. Scratches can be buffed out. Several major brand names of windshields for motorcycles are made from IMA.

Polycarbonate (Trade names Lexan and Makrolon) was dubbed early on as the “Unbreakable Plastic”. Compared to Acrylic, it is softer and tougher (leather-like) than acrylic. In its general purpose form, polycarbonate is not a good material for windshields because it scratches easily and is UV susceptible. When a mar resistant (Glass) coating is applied to the outer surfaces, it becomes an excellent material for windshields. The cost of coated polycarbonate material, plus additional processing time drive up the price of this type of windshield.

Yes, LRS is the best all around!
A couple of years ago I ordered an Elite Recurve for my 'King's Fairing, it was a great deal and is an outstanding product. I recommend them highly.

Here's my LRS story. On February 27th, 2015, at 2:52 PM, I sent them the following email:

"I have a 9" Ultra Flip Up Shield in dark tint I bought from you back in 2012. Like the idiot I am, I cracked it removing it from the bike. I need to order a replacement. I see you now have the Ultra and the Ultra Elite Polycarbonate. Neither are called the "Flip Up' but the descriptions say they have the recurve so I'm assuming they are the same or quite similar to what I have. So, your advice please on which one I should order as a replacement on a 2010 FLHXSE."

At 3:15 PM the same day I received the following email:

"Yes, the Ultra and the Ultra Elite are the same shield design. Just different material. If the 9" is what works for you, definitely stick with that, but I do recommend upgrading to the Ultra Elite. It is the highest grade polycarbonate out there and has the glass hard coating on both sides. Great stuff. The re-curve is the same as the flip up. Different name, same design. Be sure to use code: XXXXXXXX at checkout for 40% off instead of the 25% you normally would get as an HDF member.

I've dealt with many companies that have good customer service but LRS is the best.

Ordered from LRS couple years ago and received a shield that had a small scratch. Nothing that I couldn't live with but I called them and they sent a new one out over night no questions asked. Great customer service and the design of the shield has been perfect against buffeting.
