I have a 2013 street glide. I am looking to do an upgrade on my stock exhaust system. I have a few questions/concerns I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I want to go with a black exhaust. I was looking at the Vance & Hines super radius. Not 100% I want a nice loud pipe but not something that is going to defeat the purpose of having a stereo on board. I'm not dead set on a full system. If I could get a good sound quality out of a slip on I could buy the black cover kit from harley. Also I have read that tuning issues may come up when replacing exhaust.
Basically I'm needing some guidance in the right direction. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Black, nice smooth sound that won't require ear plugs to ride but I'd like grandmother to hear me when I pull in the drive.
go to a bike night and hear other bikes- base your decision on what you think is a good sound.
some of the guys here are on their 3rd or 4th set of exhaust...pretty f'in spendy.
aside from the radio, loud pipes are not much fun 3 hours into an 8 hour ride.
if you are riding locally it doesn;t much matter but if you tour it does.
some pipes are adjustable for noise levels- such as supertrapp disk system mufflers and screaming eagle fatshots.
unless you do motor work there is virtually no "performance" difference between any of the aftermarket pipe systems...probably 3 hp difference between the best and worst of the systems
my bagger is a stock motor- I run a stock header ( no cat) with supertrapps
my evo bagger was similar
a supertrapp 2/1 on my FXR

I'm running V&H Super Radius (black) on a 2015 Ultra Limited. The Super Radius have a deep rumble, bark on hard acceleration, but mellow out at cruising speed. I have stock speakers and I can hear them fine.
I had Big Radius on my 2011 Ultra. The Super Radius have better tone. Not as tinny sounding. Grandmother will hear you pulling into the driveway and you'll still hear the radio.

did you have to do any tuning to your bike to compensate for the new pipes?
