Hey everyone, I need some SERIOUS help! I am not new to wrenching on a bike at all and I'm completely stumped. Recently I did a 95" big bore kit on my 2001 RK Classic (magnetti marrelli or whatever it is). I did the job right... Adjustable pushrods, new lifters, can chain tensioner, Andrews cams, etc, etc. The bike ran great, but the rocker boxes cracked. I had S&S rocker boxes on there I had laying around and I guess they fatigued from the years and went bye bye. As I replaced the rocker boxes with new Harley ones, I did a 6 speed gear set install (which I think has no bearing on the problems I have), so here's where I'm at:
Today I wrapped up the rocker boxes and finished up the bike. Start the bike and it runs absolutely HORRIBLE. It hesitates on throttle, non responsive what so ever, just really horrible, barely hold an idle . I went around the block and could barely get it into second gear without it spitting and hesitating and everything you can imagine. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be? I did the obvious, checked the gas, plugs, wires, connections, etc but nothing. How can one week it be good and then in a few weeks it acts horrible? The bike is not rideable as is right now. I'm really stumped and kind of down about it. Any input would be great as I want to be back on the road again. Thanks in advance

Well as long adj you adj the valves properly its acting as though theres a big vacuum leak so look to see if you didnt accidentially knock off a vacuum hose & or crankcase breather hose off the intake & or throttle body resulting in a big vacuum leak which will lean out fuel mixture making it run just like you describe.
Could also be a fuel delivery issue at the fuel connector when you reinstalled the fuel tank .
Also check to ensure the fuel tank is properly venting to atmosphere because if not that will create a vacuum in the fuel tank/fuel system restricting fuel flow.
I didn't touch the intake or any hoses since the first time I built the motor so everything is the same since the first time it ran great. I'm going to do a compression test just to clear my head if any valve issues....I did it the same way this time as the first so there should be no issues
