A couple weeks ago I installed Mini Apes on my 2012 Ultra and took it for a short test ride around town. Every thing seemed ok but I wasn't doing much more then 40mph or so and I wasn't laying into it.
So the other day I finally got it out and rode about a 100 miles. I noticed it was slipping in 5th. (All shifts were fine until 5th where the RPM's climbed until I shifted into 6th) I'm thinking when I put the new clutch cable in I didn't quite adjust it properly, so that is going to be the first thing I plan on checking.
However I am curious as to how easy it is to change the clutch just incase my lack of adjusting the clutch cable properly messed up the clutch. Hopefully its less time consuming then installing the apes, lol.
If you have to or want to change it, it's pretty simple. Do check your adjustment first though. If you haven't smoked the frictions or steels you might just put a heavier spring in and be fine.
I have the screamin eagle spring in mine and i can't stand it. very heavy pull.. AIM clutch is on my to buy list. Fuel Moto also sells a version of the AIM clutch and is even on sale currently.. install looks pretty simple from what i've seen.
Adjust the clutch pack adjustment first. If you don't have a service manual, there is plenty of youtube vids. You should always make sure you clutch pack adjustment is right before adjusting the cable.
Adjusting the cable length does nothing more than change the length of travel at the lever. Adjusting the clutch pack will bring the clutch push rod back into the proper position to compensate for clutch friction plate wear.

Pretty sure all you need is an adjustment. That's where I'd start.
Yeah the cable tightens up when it gets hot. Make sure the free play is where it needs to be. Make sure the cable doesn't bind when you turn the bars from one side to the other, if will affect the pull on the clutch if there's a bind.
