I am not sure why you need to clamp or jack to start the cap - I did mine by hand.

I just did this 2 weeks ago on my Road Glide. Having never done it before, and with the service manual in hand, I would say the tear down took less than an hour, the fork rebuild with cleanup took another hour, and re-assembly on the bike was another less than an hour task. This included replacing seals and bushings in the forks, and a trip to the store to look for the big *** wrench for the caps. My first cap was not real tight, so I was able to remove it with an adjustable wrench, but the other side was a bear.

I also had one that was a bear.... Used an impact wrench... and a vice with wood blocks....
Here is a couple of vids that helped me out....

I'm planning on doing this on a 2013 RGC. If you're replacing the stock suspension with Progressive Monotubes, what 'seal' do you need to buy ?

Is it part 20 here ?

None. My "kit" had the (2) monotubes and (2) new fork bolts with seals. Here are the instructions that came with the kit....

After reading and looking at video for days, took me about, 45 min to remove forks, and a 1.5 hours work time to gut and reload inners and another hour to install forks back on because I had to raise my front fender for the 1 inch drop for 21" wheel.
I must say it took about 6 hours real time, because once I got the forks back on one side was shorter than the other(because of the pre-load tension on the mono tube cartridge) and I could not get my front wheel axle back on, and I thought something was wrong, so I removed the forks again. I guess I didn't read the part that mentioned this in the instructions.

Those are the ones, along with the bushings (2 per side). You can put in the monotubes without replacing the slide seals and bushings, but my bike has over 50K on it and I figured it was a 'while I am there' thing.

The monotube kits comes with the cap seals, but not the slider seals or bushings. It was a few bucks and a small amount of time to replace them.

Took me about 4 hours with a hardware run. I used the same video posted above. I also used a Dewalt impact. Made it pretty easy. No vice needed.
