Cheaper to turn a ultra into a sg then vis versa. Tour pac and cruise come in handy but either way youre golden.

I bought the streetglide and added and added......The thing I like about it is I can switch back in forth in less than 5 minutes. I had an ultra before the SG. The minute I rode the street glide I noticed a big difference, esp. in handling plus I kiked the sportier look. Then again I had to consider my wife. So I added the detachable tour pack and touring seat and now have the best of both worlds!! Figure on spending about $2500.00 to add the detachable tourpak and seat. Good luck!

I'd love to see the 08 UC offered in Pewter Denim. I'd jump on it, buy an extra chopped Tour-Pak and lower the UC 1 or 2" for looks. That color is the primary reason making me consider the SG over the UC at this point but I'm not too crazy about adding lots of stuff to a SG.
Financially, the UC is a better deal if you ride 2 up most of the time, which is my case. I have a TX Chopper for my selfish pleasure. That one is a solo bike, no steekin' bitch pad or rear footpegs.
Chopper + UC is in my opinion, the best of both worlds.

Bought a Street Glide in 2006 traded it in for a 2006 Ultra six months later. Lucky the dealer was a good friend. I only lost the stage one investment as SG's were hard to find then. I ride one up but love the cruise control, extra room for luggage, etc.

I think the Street Glide is one of the best looking HD's straight from the factory, but I went Ultra for Mama.

I've got the 07 Stretglide. Now i'm adding the tour pak and a sundownwer seat.
Kind of with I'd bought the classic or the ultra now.
Does anyone have a list of all the parts needed to add the detachable King tour pak with back rest to a Streetglide?

Go with the Ultra. You can get kits to remove the tour pak. As for me I decided to Leave the tour pak on. On the bike is a safe place for it and I don't have to do anything with the antennas and wires for the lights etc. I don't always use all the amenities but they are there when I do want them. Customizing and accessorizing is a way of life owning a Harley but I've reached a point of just getting on and go. My last two have been Ultras.

Go with the Ultra. As mentioned earlier you can remove things as desired to give that sporty look and add them when needed. But if you have to purchase all the add ons it will cost in the long run. Cruise Control is one thing I wouldn't do without. Handy in either configuration and standard on the Ultra, $330 or so to purchase separately, then add the tourpak, fairing lowers if desired, etc.
