Default Which Touring model?

Coming from Dyna model and planning on transition to touring models. Prefer comfort and smoother for long distance riding.

So, which of these basic touring models in a stock form gives me my desired preference? Is it the RoadKing, Roadglide or StreetGlide.

Thx

Shorter trips all are fine. Long trips, 2 up get a Road Glide Ultra, or Ultra classic, or Limited. Most are going to tell you to get whatever they have. There are tons of threads with circular arguments about this.

DEMO DAYS are your friend! Can you handle the weight? Do you like the fairing? Will you use the trunk?

Road Glide is way smoother than the Batwings.
Road glide feel is longer in front short in back and the bat wings are the opposite

I've had both in most versions (street glide, ultra etc.)

I got an Ultra on the off-chance that my wife would ride with me and would be comfortable for her. In 3 years she's never been on it. That said, I was going to buy a Road King because it's the most versatile of the touring models. it's a personal choice you need to make. Good luck.

for long distance, i'd recommend the roadglide. however, if you go with the roadglide custom, you'll get more comfort out of it if you change the lowered 12'' shocks for the standard touring 13'' shocks. for even better comfort, go with aftermarket 13''.

same with the street glide, it only has 12'' shocks as well.

the roadking comes with 13'' shocks, but no fairing to block the wind, and house tunes. but a roadking with a windshield is no slouch for touring long distance either.

whatever you decide to do, make sure you've got cruise. you can argue abs all day long (I prefer it), but having cruise to relax your wrist is a huge comfort saver. also, the stock seats on the roadglide and street glide suck for the passenger. that will have to be addressed. not sure on the roadking, but it looks like it is more passenger friendly, but a good touring seat is a definite must have.

agreed with the above, do a rental. that way you can get a good feel for it in 'real world' conditions as opposed to a 20 min test route the dealer has set up.

Ultra should be your choice. SG has less suspension travel

I would say an Roadglide Ultra or Ultra Limited gives you the most versatility. You can get a detachable kit, different seat and windshield and you are set for shorter rides but you have the tourpack and lowers for long trips. If you get a prerushmore ultra you can put speakers in the lowers as well. Lots of deals on those can be found.

Oh... I forgot to add. I have had them all and the Roadglide is at the top of the food chain.

I've had a RK for 5 years and love the bike and have done many longer trips. This year I bought a SG and its night and day compared to my RK much more comfortable on the hwy. I just put a fairing on my RK and it's pretty damn comprable to my SG now plus I have the added option to take it off if I want to bar hop around town which is nice too.
