Default stator plug

how many people have cut the tie wrap holding the wire that comes out of the stator going to the voltage regulator? it seems to me that it has a good strain on it being pulled sideways. i ride a 2015 trike now, but i'm sure it's the same on all the new bikes.

There is a lot of tension which is why I cut my zip-tie also.

i read on here somewhere that people were putting a bead of sillycone between the case and the plug. i thought it was suppose help support it or something along those lines. i could see where it being tied down like it is could wear on the wires and plug. i'll be cutting mine today.

got to love the engineers. If they all have that tie that bends it into a 90... why not have a molded 90 or 45°??

none the less... I will take another gander at mine and cut it.

Zip tie is for chafe avoidance due to engine vibration. Mine looks fine to me and I would not remove the zip tie. JMO.

to cut or not to cut, that's the question ! a molded 90* or 45* would be the way to go here, but some engineer has his head up his *** when designing this. i think i will cut mine and save the fix on the oil leak that will be happening in the future.

That stator lead moves a lot if not tied down. Could it eventually cause the plug to leak? Maybe so. Maybe not. Anyway, unless you know why it was put there in the first place. Leave it alone.
