Default Question for JMJohn

First, are the shorty antennas interchangeable between stereo and CB? I only see 1 option for ordering the 1 foot antennas and there doesnt seem to be a distinction between cb or radio.

Also, your website indicates that there will be a new Bluetooth anabled headset that will allow stereo/CB/Intercom/GPS voice/etc.. via Bluetooth. When will this be available? What can you tell us about its functionality and performance? It seems to be the best answer to integration without attaching another device to the handlebars.

Will these headsets still use the hardwire to connect to the harley intercom & radio and just use Blurtooth for the GPS and phone? How will the priorities of all of the different inputs be handled? With the Zumo 550 it seems all you would need to do is have the headset connect via bluetooth and you would have almost everything. As the Zumo has built in bluetooth to make & receive calls, XM Radio, & Voice commands.

I hope this didn't confuse you because everytime I try to figure out how to do this in the least complicated way I get confused myself.[&:]

Default RE: Question for JMJohn

Tizone ,,,,,,

the same J&M shorty antenna that is tuned for CB radio on the tail trunk orsaddlebag mount location, will work very well on the AM/FM side also, because the coax cable impedance for the AM/FM radio side is 93 ohms instead of the 52 ohm cable used for the CB side ,,,,,,

it is the antenna used on the CB side that is critical in it's exact frequency tuning ,,,,, once that is right, the AM/FM side doesn't really care ,,,,, hope I am making sense ,,,,

as for Bluetooth headsets ,,,,, I could write a "novel" here on that subject, but no one would read it ,,,,,

so think of it this way ,,,, almost without exception, a bluetooth headset can only link to one "dongle" or transmitter at a time, and since the stock Harley system doesn't have any dongles at all, one would have to be added ,,,,

and if you add one to try and use the stock Harley stereo, intercom, music system, in two channel stereo, the bluetooth software would never know when to switch from A2DP stereo mode, to handsfree mode, to let the mike signal go thru for intercom ,,,,, and even if you devised a way that it could, the delays and echoes would be so long in duration and annoying on intercom, no one would want to use it ,,,,

in summary ,,,, with the current Bluetooth technology as it stands today ,,,, Bluetooth headsets really only work well for motorcycles that have no type of audio system on them at all, and you just want to link to stand alone devices such as cell phones and GPS units like the Garmin Zumo550 ,,,,,,

that is the bottom line ,,,,,

Tizone ,,,,,,

the J&M Harley shorty antennas also have a good spring built into the base, to allow them to be bent over all the way to install your favorite bike cover ,,,,

we did quite a bit of work in R&D belore we released them ,,,,,,
