Default Total Bluetooth?

If this has been asked and answered I didn't see it. On the new Harleys with the 6.5 infotainment system can you go totally wireless? Is this the way it comes or do you have to buy Sena or Scala or some other Bluetooth head sets? So to make it simple for me can I listen to the music (radio, MP3) and GPS instructions, talk on the CB and the intercom, or my phone all without a tether (cord).

There is no way to be totally wireless. You still need a wired headset to talk on the phone and CB.

There is a way because I have a wireless ear piece that is bluetooth to my phone, so there is a way. I just wantedto know if the new Harley did it.

To go down my naturally geeky path, yes you could take the time to make a bt adapter that could potentially interface through the wired connection...like a dongle, but you may run into signalling issues across the multiple BT frequency ranges and combinations that you'd be using....but I see how it could possibly be accomplished...

Mh - can something be added to the old HK head units to create a BT link? I use Pandora a lot but don't like using the aux plug.

There are lots of Bluetooth adapters available that will allow you to Bluetooth your IPhone to the radio, but you still have to use the AUX input port to plug in the adapter. No way of doing it otherwise other then buying a new 14 and you should see all the problems with that state of the art Infotainment system.

Like Scotty once said on Star Trek, "the more you screw with the plumbing the easier it is to plug up the drain".

The Boom Infotainment does not support the BT protocol that would allow it to talk directly to a Sena or Scalia Rider BT headset. Whether H-D wanted it to be this way or not is up for debate. The simple answer is that right now it will not do it. If the hardware is there is also up for debate. It seems like it must be, but getting them to update the software to add this feature is not a normal thing H-D has been known to do in the past, so unlikely they will do it now without an "upgrade fee".

To make this work today, you would need to find something that will take the 7 pin plug for the headset and convert it to BT. They are out there, and there is at least one thread on this topic that has some ideas on how to do it.

Jefla I use this Bluetooth adapter from Best Buy. Been using it for about a month now and to be honest, my HK radio has never sounded as good as it does now. Music is crystal clear and louder. Can cruise and listen to tunes at just a little over half volume now compared to having to crank it all the way up before using audio cable.

No worky on a '14. There is no aux input jack.

Send your radio out to Ironcross and get a rear aux input installed for $40 plus shipping them get the Bluetooth adapter of your choice and it can all be hidden inside the fair to look stock. Or change your head unit to an aftermarket one with Bluetooth built-in. This is how I am set up and I can skip songs on Pandora with my hand controls which comes in handy sometimes especially if you leave your phone in your pocket of other less accessible location.
