Hey shooter, +1 on the P.I. Looks like the fleet will be making port calls again and possibly a small det. of bombers to influence China. The P.I., oh yea!

If it were mine I would sandblast the chrome off get fillers and paint everything color of bike . This is one of the ugliest ideas moco has come up with

Heck, my old EG Classic came standard with them. But its a way for the MoCo to get top dollar for a bike and sell more accessories right away to make it look like a finished product.
I like the clean look on the Rushmore bikes without those saddlebag guards on there. But as you mentioned, I'm sure the motor company did it just to save money. Aesthetics had nothing to do with it.

Oh and yes, those huge chrome slots between the rear fender and saddlebags do look hideous. They desperately are crying out to be covered with something.

I did this to mine. I got the idea off of one of the forums, maybe this one. $10 wire mesh desk tray and some 3M tape.

Outraged...oh, the humanity! If these bikes came with solid fillers everyone would be putting in cut-outs. I like them open. If you like them filled just buy a kit, and strap a little teddy bear on the back to complete the bling.
