My Harley dealer told me if I used Amsoil in my bike it would void the warrenty. I still us it anyway because when it comes right down to it, Amsoil is the best insurance you can get for your ride
Next time he tells you that, ask him where the FREE oil is located in his store. If you do a search for the Magnuson Moss warrantee act [if I remember correctly] you will find what you need to know....basically there is a law that states if a manufacturer is going to spec a specific oil be used to maintain the warrantee, then they have to provide it free of charge...otherwise, any oil meeting the certification standards equivalent to the manufacturer's may be substituted....and there aint no synthetic out there that will NOT meet HD's quality standards.
I too put Amsoil 75-90 in my tranny and noticed smoother/quieter shifting w/ neutral being easier to find after about 5-10 miles.I also signed up for the perferred customer discount,as me and my buddies are going to switch to Amsoil.Oh, by the way, my ride is a 2005 Electra Glide Standard w/ Stage 1 done to it.FYI.... Even w/ shipping costs, it's way cheaper to buy it yourself than go to the stealership. My .02 cents
Some of these dealers are stuck in the past. You would think that HD would realize that there tranny needs a better oil than what they are using. Some of the people they got at these Harley dealerships now well it just makes you wonder. What damn tree did they fall off of?
My dealer told me specifically to run a good synthetic after a 1000 miles. Of course he pushed Syn-3 but off the cuff siad any synthetic made for motorcycles by a quality manufacturer would be fine.
The facts are right. If a particular oil is the only one allowed to maintain the waranty, it must be provided at no cost. As long as the minimum classifications are met, your warranty isn't void.

Amsoil won't void your warranty, as you know. Amsoil makes high-quality lubricants, as do a number of other manufacturers (Mobil 1, Redline, Royal Purple, etc.). It is not necessarily "best" for every application and under all conditions, and there is no compelling evidence that it is. The famous Amsoil oil tests were not truly independent, but were commissioned, designed, and paid-for by Amsoil. Other tests, including those done by two motorcycle magazines, show different results. Yet more tests conducted by other oil marketers show their own products to be superior. Again, Amsoil is a high-quality product, but it isn't necessarily "best" nor is it a panacea.
