I must preface this post with a "this is no BS". At 1000 miles I went to Amsoil in the crank and primary, kept H-D in the Tranny. From 1000-5000 I began to hear the "bird chirp" in 5th gear. Got to where It was very pronounced. Didn't have a problem with it, just very noticeable. Just did my 5K service and stayed with Amsoil in the crank and primary, but went to Amsoil Severe Gear in the trans. I kid you not, 5th gear now sounds like all the others, chirp is GONE. I'm up to 5700 miles now and gave it a week to make sure before I posted my findings. I'm a believer. Lucky for memy H-Ddealer carries Amsoil for just cents over what I could get it from an Amsoildealer but with no shipping costs, so it's a wash.
I said it before also, Redline works. My '07 was noise as hell, changed to Redline @ 500 miles its quiet as can be now. Just like I posted WAY back in I believe November.
Tell my why then my service manager where I bought my bike ( I guess I understand why he tells me to stay with regular Harley oil but he is also against Syn3 which I know from reading on here most do not think it's a true synthetic) but also two local independent mechanics think I should stay with Harley products. I tell them all the good things I've read about Amsoil on here but they advise me not to go synthetic. I know it's my decision, but wonder why the mechs. are so against it. One did tell me that bikes with a lot of miles will find a leak with synthetic if there is one to find.

So they can get money from you when engine parts go bad. Synthetic is the way to go my friend. There's no better protection for your motor, tranny, and primary than a good synthetic oil. Amsoil Motor Cycle Oil, Royal Purple Max Cycle, Mobile One V-Twin. Not my opinion just the facts.
My Harley dealer told me if I used Amsoil in my bike it would void the warrenty. I still us it anyway because when it comes right down to it, Amsoil is the best insurance you can get for your ride
