Security / Deterrent
My 2007 FLHX does not have a factory installed security system and I was curious if someone could make a recommendation on a system. I was looking at the HD Smart Siren that has the small pager but it says that I need to have a factory installed unit for it to work with my bike.
I know I could do a simple web search but because my bike doesn't have a system in it I was hoping someone could make a suggestion.

the HD security system works well- but is not a deterrent ...really. just a small flashing icon on the dash...it could be someone jumps on teh bike and breaks the ignition...then they find out there is an alarm
consider a disk lock- xena and others make disk locks with alarms built in ( most often used to keep you from riding off with the lock on.)
something visual like that is a deterrent
there are all number of ways to wire in an ignition disable..as easy as a hidden switch added to the starter or ignition systems

I don't know if the smart siren is a deterrent or not, but the other day I got on my 15 Ultra and was going to move it a little in my garage. I forgot I didn't have the fob in my pocket and the damn alarm went off very quickly.... like in about 5 seconds. Sure got my attention.

I've owned my 07 Street Glide since 2009 and have never locked it or gave it a second thought. I'm not naive to the ways of the world and realize that bikes are a target. I subscribe to the theory of if they want it bad enough it's gone. I've been to Sturgis, Daytona and many other smaller rallies and don't even lock my saddlebags. Maybe I'll get jacked some day but that's what insurance is for.
Back in 93, a friend of mine in Seal Team 2 had his Springer jacked from his locked garage. The bike was chained to a vertical steal beam in the garage as well.
