My first bike was a new 07' Honda VTX 1300C. Although I liked my Honda it just wasn't a Harley, couldn't afford a Dyna at the time as I was told by my cousin not to get a skirtster, so I didn't want to be that guy. Glad I didn't get a sportster because over time I felt too big on my VTX, I'm only 5"11 195lbs. Nothing wrong with a sportster just not my bike so the next bike after the sportster was the dyna brands.
Anyways on February 20, I went to a dealership and started looking at the Street Glides because I've been a fan of the fairings maybe 3-4 years now. Before then I thought they were for old folks but I was wrong since I'm only 32 and I love the look now. Wife liked the color I was looking at and the Street Glide so she told me to get it. She wants the seat and trunk for her but I don't like that look just yet so she'll have to settle for a smaller removable sissybar backrest.
Last Friday I picked her up at the dealer and drove her an hour and 22 minutes north and got a sunburn out of the deal lol. It was windy so hearing the radio at times was pretty brutal but once I got around 60-55 miles I could hear it just fine. Thought it had more of a get up and go than my Honda did and shifting gears was a lot smoother too. I had a lot of folks driving by me on the highway staring at my bike which brought several smiles to my face.
The only accessories I have on my bike at the moment are the V&H Dresser Duals, V&H V02 Naked air intake and Screaming Eagle tuner. Still waiting on my double fluted CFR mufflers...about 6-8 more weeks of waiting lol. Will have to buy a new seat cause my rear end was numb within 45 minutes of my drive.
Congrats!!! Your rear isn't the only thing that's gonna hurt haha. When on trips I put a limited seat on my roadglide and it helps a lot. You can find one for around 150-200 or get a whole aftermarket seat.
I too just got my first Harley! I suspect I may have a few years on Dewiz 45 as my first new bike was a 1970 Honda CL 175. Picked up my 2016 Ultra Limited last Friday. Snow forecasts for tomorrow, some say 5 to 8 inches, others 9 to 12. That new ride may be sitting for a few more days.
