Default Back to Harley

I was a fairly active member here for 7 or 8 years with my last bike being a 08 Denim Pewter SG. It was my 3rd Harley and second SG since buying one first year out in 06. I blacked out the 08, stretched bags, 21/18 RC Components wheels, Yaffe monkey bars, HQ 107", D&D Fatcat, etc. Think I still have pics in the gallery. I bought a 2012 BMW K1600GT in 2011 and traded the Harley. I always enjoyed all bike types having owned Harley's, Honda CbR1000RR, Kawasaki ZX14 and Concours, Triumph Street Triple, BMW S1000RR. Currently my other bikes are a Triumph Thruxton, a BMW S1000RR and the aforementioned K1600GT.

I love the BMW K1600. It is truly and amazing motorcycle but I miss a lot about Harley's. As you all know, that appeal is sometimes hard to define, but we know what it is So it's going up for sale and I'll be buying a 14 or 15 Strretglide, Roadglide, or Roadking Classic. My preferences are in that order but open to any of the 3 if the right low mileage, accessory laden bikes appears.
Whichever I buy I'll get busy making it mine, which is half the fun.

There are also some good deals on low mileage 13's here in DFW as well. My main question is regarding that; do the changes on the 14 and up make big differences in rideability etc.? I noticed the 14's now come with a 19" wheel vs the 18's on the 2013. How do you compare handling?

I'm looking forward to getting back on a Harley!

Wink Welcome back...

Hello Gliderxxx; and Welcome back!! I remember you quite well, I thoroughly read your thread on the HQ build that PhilM did for ya, right to the end when you had Ed at the Dyno difference tune it. That was one of my favourite bikes on here. How did the 107 hold up? I'm still riding my 2008 FLHX, think it's a keeper. I think HD got the compensator issues all sorted out by 2014, if I'm not mistaken. Your going to be looking at a 7 or 8 year newer bike so, I think you'll feel a world of difference. How long do you think you'll keep it stock...lol???
Cheers dude... Nice to have ya back, all the best to you in your search...

I remember you and your bike. Very cool, welcome back.

Since 09 there have been numerous changes that add up.
I'll let some else go through all of the improvements but in short, it's worth looking at a 14+.

Hey Joe...thanks for the welcome back. I know I won't b able to keep my hands off it for long, depending on what I end up finding. The HQ build ended up ok, but not without some frustration, nor was it ideal. I am positive that that's something I won't be doing to the next bike. My last trip through here a 95" was a big bore. The 103" should be a nice touch on these bikes. Cool you're still riding your 08. I've regretted other bikes nice sold, but never anything like my denim pewter SG. Id buy it back if I could find it
