Default CB Issue

I guess not many out there use the CB as I could not find much info when searching. I have an 08 ultra and ride in large groups. We really like to communicate when riding particularly if we get into traffic.

My issue is I can hear just fine through the headset or speakers. When I try to transmit others can barely hear my voice as it is drown out by a squeeling noise. I have tried different mic's from fellow riders with same results. I have played with the settings on the head unit but nothing seems to help. Anyone out there had this issue or can suggest some ideas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you're facing the rear of your bike make sure the CB antenna is on the right side and your AM/FM antenna is the left side.

I was have your problem when I first got my last bike.

Just for grins also try plugging your headset into the passenger's connector just to rule out a bad connection up front. If that fails check the connection to your antenna in the tour-pac under the liner.

If all else fails find a CB shop or a friend with an SWR meter and get your antenna tuned correctly.

Good luck!

Sounds like the SWRs are off. I wouldn't talk on it much until you tune that antenna or you can burn out the CB finals.

I would be willing to bet that you have a bad ground, probably in the CB itself. The squeal is a dead giveaway. If it is not under warranty you can try opening the unit up and visually inspecting the connections from the mic plug to the PC board. There is probably either a loose, or cold solder connection, probably on the ground wire that is not making good contact. Also check the PC board to ground connection while you are on there.
