Ya I am wanting to do the ohlins up front as well. Ohlins has never let me down before and I think it can just be chalked up to a really bad service road around the lake and we both took off a couple lbs since last season.

Bringing this thread back again. Finally got some good measurements and need some help. This is from bottom eye to fixed point on the bike:

Total suspension travel: 84mm
Unladen: 247mm
Laden no rider or passenger: 222mm
Solo: 209mm
2up: 203mm

Please help me where do I need to set my sag for passenger comfort?

Thanks.

So if total travel is 84mm and sag with 2 up is 44 is that too far off on this spring or is that within adjustable range? I am assuming I need to go clockwise and compress the spring more?

I think the shock lengths on Howard's site are from shock bolt centers. So the unladen (no load) length should be the shock length for the 2-2B - the 330mm. If the SAG is set correctly (the 28mm), the laden (loaded) length should be the 330mm - 28mm = 302mm. The SAG should be the same for 2up vs solo. Just adjust the preload for that.

I don't see where to adjust preload on these shocks. Also the 28mm was an incorrect measurement as the wheel wasn't unloaded.

Free sag is way too much as is rider aboard sag. Tighten spring by adding preload. I'd start at around 25mm rider aboard.

So do you think I should set for rider and leave as that? Passenger is with me 70% of the time.

That would be 1 way to start the process. I can tell you that your settings are off solo and waaaaaay off 2 up. It can only get better from here, LOL

Ok I think I got it. Had to crank it about 6 turns but I got the sag dialed in. Will ride tomorrow and see how it is.

I had a great talk with Howard yesterday. This guy really knows his stuff and I can't imagine why anyone would consider another option. He will be helping me get these things perfect. Stay tuned.
