most problems with the security system are owner induced. not to say that 'genuine' problems don't occur, just pretty infrequent.
as far as pushing your bike away from the interference, why? it's a whole lot easier to use the override code. i'd rather push a couple of buttons with my thumb, than a 900 lb bike all around the parking lot.......
Skratch ... probably too many have forgotten ( or never entered them in the first place ) their code :>)
Two things that have been brought up on this or other threads:
You should definitely change your security code yourself by following the sequence. Take the card out of the owners manual, record your code and carry it in your wallet. Also when your in your garage practice entering it every couple of months.

+1
I've never once experienced any of the issues being reported here.
And even when/if there was interference, using the over ride PIN will not be blocked by any type of interference.
No way would I ever push one of the touring bikes around the parking lot. LOL
Ok fellers, UPDATE-- went in back with the dealer and sure enough, everything is working fine with both fobs. Siren is normal also. Dealer is going to check out switch in left handlebar for possible nuteral switch and not having clutch pulled in was an issue. I did not know that they have put that on. If bike is not definatly in neutral this switch will not allow start without clutch being fully engaged. I dont think my 06 SG had this. They seem to think its was an issue of this or ignition stem making intermitent contact that could have been playing with me. Hope to hear from them later today. Will keep you posted.

nope, the neutral safety switch started appearing on the touring bikes in 07.

So, it wasn't the Security System that "Left him stranded".
Skratch, at this point they are thinking not. Focusing on interuption of juice with ignition. If not Hell who knows it may have been me screwing something up!!
I had my 2006 SG ignition just cut off running down the highway once . 70 mph and suddenly died. Coasted to a stop and after cycling the switch back and forth 4 or5 times it came back on and never did it again.
