Default Kuryakyn Hidden Horns

After being on backorder for a few months I finally received the Kuryakyn hidden horns today and installed them on my Road King over a few St. Pauli's. I wanted something louder than the stock horn, and I wanted to keep my stock cow bell. I ended up disconnecting the weak stock horn and keeping the cow bell - the instructions said I could keep the stock horn connected, but the stock horn had 2 male connects and the Kuryakyn wiring had 1 make and 1 female connect so I just removed the stock horn and left the cow bell in place - I have someLED lights mounted inside the cowbell and removing the horn gave a little bit more roomfor theLED lights to shine on the chrome better.

How does it sound?Keruakyn says they are 115-decibel horns and they sound pretty good for non-air horns...almost as loud as an old cadillac I used to have (that sounded like a train coming down the road), but not as loud as some air horns. Installation was kind of a pain in the a$$ since there is not much finger room behind the rear shock to plug the wires together and cover them with the black plastic tubing so you don't see the wires. It also took me a few attempts mounting the horn since it moved the mounts for my tour pak out an additional 1/4 inch - I had to figure where to place the horn bracket so my tour pak would still mount easily. I know 1/4 inch doesn't sound like much, but the tour pak mount bracket doesn'tleave much room for error.

Do I like them? My first impression is yes, I am happy with the sound and the quality of the horns seems to be really good, the chrome finish is really nice. I will have to see how it sounds out on the road tomorrow. Anyhow, here is a picture of the installed horns on my Road King:

I like the idea of hidden horns. Looks like a good installation as well. Please post some pics with the bags on from a couple of angles to show how well the horns are hidden, and of course your feedback on how loud they are

04harleyboy,

I was going to take some pictures with the bags on, but I couldn't find an angle where I could get a good picture...in other words, unless you are specifically looking for them you wouldn't see them at all - they tuck in quite nice behind the right sidesaddlebag. If I was to blast the horn and people looked to see where it came from they wouldn't think it came from my bike because you can't see the trumpet horns.
