Perhaps some of the folks in this forum can help me with their experience and insights for a 3/4 with face shield. The candidates are Shoei J-Cruise, Arai XC, LS2 Cabrio Carbon and HJC FG-Jet.
Clearly a pretty wide range of prices; what I am looking for is a balance between safety, comfort and cost. What I am not so clear on is that as they all are DOT certified, the Arai is also Snell 2015 and the LS2 is ECE listed. Is this significant to be a tie breaker?
Are the XC and J-Cruise worth nearly three times the FG-Jet? ...again value. Thanks : )

I have the Harley version of the FG-Jet and a Shoei RF 1200 (full face). The HJC is a decent helmet and a good value. I bought it for short trips in hot weather. The Shoei is worth the extra money and I would buy one again. It's just a better engineered and constructed product in every way.
My opinion, it should be about comfort and the features you want. You're going to have that bucket on your head a lot so you want it to be comfortable. Since we all have different head shapes, not all helmets will fit the same.
Shoes or Arai - which ever fit you better. Shoei fits me best, so I purchased an RF1100 about 4 years back. Great helmet, comfortable and the added safety features that you'd expect from a helmet at that price. Worth every penny.

Don't forget - the Shoei is also Snell Rated as well ( not sure if it is 2015 tho ).
The one that fits. That being said I picked up a Shoei J Cruise. Best helmet I've ever had. I always figured that spending $300+ on one was a bit much when less expensive HJC's had similar features. I was wrong. More comfortable and a noticeable difference in long term comfort especially on long days and long multi day trips. The Shoei is no longer Snell rated I think because of the internal shield.

Yep, if it doesn't fit the head shape, it won't work.
Great replies guys! Clearly, if it doesn't fit well, its off the list. I plan on sending them a photo of the top of my head so that they can attempt to choose the best helmet....appreciate the help, so far....Again, the decision given the fit is good comes down to value. I care less about the name and more about how it functions.
