New Fork Drain
Yeah I know I should be looking at the service manual..but has anyone changed their lowers on the 14 and up touring? I am guessing you now drain the oil out the bottom damper bolt? I guess MoCo is saving money by not putting them in the back of the leg any longer.
If i am not mistaken MoCo also stopped putting a grease fitting in steering head portion of the frame you can't grease the steering head bearings anymore which if is the case really sucks too!
No drain screws in the forks, well maybe could maybe drill and tap forks for drains if fork design on newer HD's is able to utilize older design fork drain screw application.
But i have heard that when some guys have tried removing the screws in lower leg of forks that sometimes if internals in fork tubes sift/move just enough to not be able to get screws back in requiring forks be completely disassembled to move internals back onto position to re-install the screws.
So if thats truly the case i'd not rec going that route.
BTW,my 09 still has fork drains & grease fitting to grease steering head bearings which is great for doing proper maint .

that is absolutely true. there is now a 25k mileage requirement to service your front end. and to do that, it is going to have to come apart. $$$
