Since I am looking to replace my OEM shocks before they kill me, I thought I would jump in here. Looking at Pro Action, Legend Revo A, Penske and Ohlin. Just wondering if Penske and/or Ohlin can perform that much better than the lower priced shocks to justify twice the price; still doing research but not yet convinced..............

lp your comment holds no merit , I defend Ohlins if you read my post , yes I use Howard HOWEVER I would use Ohlins with or without him , I have helped many members on here who have pm me asking for help dialing their Ohlins in that they have bought elsewhere , when I speak of Ohlins , I am speaking of Ohlins , if I speak about Howard I will say Howard. Very easy to tell the difference.

It holds much merit considering how much you attack Scott and others once the thread is not going your way AND the fact that you and Howard go way back AND you're riding on about 9K of his shocks, forks, trees, etc and etc.

Furthermore, if folks point out that Ohlins are actually available at other vendors like Fuelmoto, you get in a tiff. So, be real man. Not my first day on this forum.

Just Sayin there bud.

lp , you know so much and yet you know nothing. Me and Howard go way back . That shows what you know. I bought Progressive 940's from Dennis Kirk (forum sponsor) , Ricor from Ricor (forum sponsor) way before I ever dealt with Howard. I , like many others am a customer of his. I bought my first shocks from him in late 2011 , 4 1/2 years ago , so that's how far we go back , yea I bought my front end from him , guilty as charged . He's sold me nothing but great products at a fair price and given great service , so yea I like him because of that. Anyone gives me good service I like . Some have had similar experiences , others haven't . That doesn't concern me . But you lie about ragging others , Scott I do at times because he states things he knows are not true , I have told many many people , Progressive are way better than stock but not on a level with Ohlins , never ragged them. I've stated many times any coil over shock is a improvement . Ohlins is simply the best and if your budget allows that's what I'd use . There have been many on here that have bought from other vendor's that couldn't get support after the sale that I have given my cell number and have called me and I've helped out. So know your facts before you run your mouth.

Too funny man. Even your arguments sound like a sales pitch.

Write it any way you want there hoss. Point is, you post way too much defending Howard, Ohlins, and talk way too much crap about competitors and their owners to be any where near objective.

Give it a rest brother. You make yourself look like an angry salesman.

Oh, and quit talking crap about competitors. It's just not nice.

OK! here is my rebuttal!
Installation procedure:
You only have two bolts.
a) Install lower bolt and snug it. Then line up shock upper mount. If you see a gap between upper mounting frame and shock mount, then install spacer as needed.
b)Install lower bolt and snug it. If there is no gap and if you need to spread the shock to get it line up with the upper mounting hole you have a negative gap. If you negative gap on your upper mount, spacer required on bottom mount.
c)Install lower bolt and snug it. If no positive or negative gap, then no spacer required on either mounts.
d)Same process on other side
e)Make sure the bushings are installed on both shock mounts
d)Torque per installation manual

Setting Sag:
Also two settings:
Compressing spring or De-compressing spring(increase length).
Start with compressing spring. Ride it. If its too stiff then go the other way(de-compress) until full length of spring. De-compressing spring to its full length give you maximum cushy ride. The chosen spring rate included on the shock must be fixed to the riders weight. No such adjustment like 16th or 32nd of an inch increments on the adjustment nut.

Maintenance:
Howard recommends use clean lint free cloth to clean the shaft. These pair of shock is factory sealed, theres not much we can do to them.

This is all there is to it!

But of all the $700 worth pair of rear shocks out there, I'll still buy Howards shocks again.
Sorry Howard, I am not satisfied with the result from my shocks rebuilding.

Penske and Ohlins both used them in the past but went away from them . I too would love to do comparisons so you would stop spewing your lies , lifetime warranty when your brands warranty states limited lifetime but they told you different on the phone and won't put it in writing but you believe it , why ? Because you bought them, again I'm glad you like what you bought , my Progressive 940's and JRi both were much better than stock and a nice improvement that would satisfy many riders but they or your brand are not on par with Ohlins.
Actually, I do have the Lifetime warranty in writing. It's in a email they sent me explaining the warranty. I also have the word of happy customers that have taken advantage of Legends service. Do I know as much about suspension as others, probably not. I simply know from over 25 years on Harley's what works for me. I also prefer American products when available. I like knowing that 5, 10 years down the road, if I have a issue with my shocks, Legend will rebuild or simply replace at no charge other than one way shipping.
