I spoke to my HD parts-guy recently and he said the brand new (2016) projector headlamp $575 (6700265) is supposed to fix some of the complaints of the original projector headlamp ($500). Has anyone tried this new lamp?

The original HD daymaker projector is crap.

The sunpie version on amazon for $90 is much better.

Amazon.com: SUNPIE Black 7" Round Daymaker LED Projectior Headlight for Jeep Wrangler Harley Davidson Motorcycle: Automotive Amazon.com: SUNPIE Black 7" Round Daymaker LED Projectior Headlight for Jeep Wrangler Harley Davidson Motorcycle: Automotive

The new HD version looks exactly like the sunpie version but I haven't seen if it works as well as the sunpie or not.

If you're really concerned about light through the turns there's a company that makes one with extra lights that turn on as lean angle increases so you have light in the same places you had it when you were straight up. Be prepared for price shock though, it's not cheap.

I have a JWSpeaker Evo2 which is the same as the new hd projector. It has extra lights in that come on in high beam. Low beam still has a dark spot in corners but high beam is much fuller. I also added fog lights on the engine guard to increase close up light. Don't waiste your money buying from HD, get a JWSpeaker from Amazon for under $300, same light.

$800.00 for a headlight? Damn!! I've been reading the reviews on some of the knock offs. You may have to cut out some of the housing, buy a kit which includes a rubber seal. But saving $500.00 is worth the little extra work. Also the guys in these reviews seem be happy with it.

I find the reflection from road signs, highway dividers and anything else else reflective very blinding to me almost like meeting a car with bright lights on

Rode my Ultra about 600 miles in the dark from Sturgis stock lighting , could see just fine. Just one more thing to make you unhappy with your setup and spend money and time.

The sunpie that I linked requires no bullshit. Yes there is an adapter harness, but that's the same with the HD unit. Everything else goes right in. No cutting, no sticking out farther or sucked in, no different mounting ring. It installs the same way the HD one does, but costs $400 less.

And no, I'm not the vendor, I don't know the vendor, the vendor doesn't know I'm posting about it, I don't get a dime. I just found a light that works, fits, and looks good. I'll give the moco money for this and that but when their item just ****ing sucks, I won't.

I have the TL7 on my 09 SG with the frenched ring. It did take a little finessing to fit but looks great. Got from Napas website foe $120. Great light output. Very happy with it.. My buddy got the daymaker reflector headlight and hates it.
