Default Engine (96) upgrade help

Hey guys,
I have a 2010 street glide 96) I have a d&d fat cat exhaust on the way and a screamin eagle intake with a dynojet power commander 5. I was looking to get some opinions/advice on what to do as far as upgrading my cams and head. Will it make that big of a difference if so what exactly do I need to order to get it done?? I'm definitely an amateur as you can tell by the questions. I've read some stuff about wood cams but then will read some stuff on how they're good and another person will post they're bad and it all confuses me. So any help you guys can post will greatly be appreciated. Thank you
Pat

All depends on your budget. for about $3.5K installed and dyno'd you can get a 107 kit with heads, which would put you at about 120TQ with that fatcat.

Pretty nice hop up, I'd say

+1

that's probably teh way to go.

vendors such as fuel moto, hillside and others have proven packages of parts which will give repeatable results. ( better bang for buck than what is offered by HD)

these guy will have dyno charts you can look at to see where the power comes on- match that to the gearing and weight of your bike....

the amount of labor required to do a 107 is the same as just pulling the heads...with the addition of swapping pistons and cylinders- so add 15 minutes.

expect to loose some longevity and mpg.
for those reasons I leave my HD's at stage 1

You have two basic choices: 1, learn how to mix and match stuff; 2, contact an expert shop, as mentioned by Mike above. The first can take quite some time and may have mixed results; the second will get you straight to a high performance package. My advice is to follow 2 and pick up the phone to one of our HDF sponsors.

Fueling 574 cam, best money I ever spent on my old 96 in that was in my 09 Road Glide. Really woke that bike up. It sounded wicked and ran like a scolded dog.

You want to order all the right stuff? Listen. You will drive yourself crazy trying to sort through all the combinations of performance upgrades. My advice is to find yourself a reputable independent shop that specializes in big twins. Talk to them and start a conversation. When you feel you can trust let them take the lead and make decisions on cams etc... You just need to let them know how radical you want to go... I put my trust in a shop where the owner had owned and modified just about every model Harley made from knuckleheads to twin cams. After talking to him a couple times I knew he was the guy to let make those decisions. He built me a strong reliable motor.
