They really do feel goofy but when you look closely how they work you will find they sre the best stands of any bike ever. They are really heavy duty. Just put it down and trust in the motorcycle gods and walk away. She will sit there for ever....CJ
funny - as the dealer set the stand for me to take delivery the SG started to weave back and I practially dove for the bars. After looking like some kind of paranoid fool - I was informed that it's one of the most stable set ups in the biz.
Dealer Note: tell people that before the lot kid parks your new HD, hops off and walks away as the bike is still moving.
I'm with dpitts. Dealers has said this several times that the kickstand is one of the strongest parts of the bike and won't buckle as long as it is 'set' correctly.
I try and 'set' the bike. If I'm on a slight grade 'up' then I put the bike in 1st and let it roll back down the 2" till it is 'set in gear'. Then engage the stand. Same if I'm on level or downgrade I put it in first... roll the bike till it is 'set' and then engage the stand.
