As suggested above, many guys moving from the old carb days to more modern electronic ignition systems have trouble grasping the differences.
Far too manufacturers and sales people have taken advantage of the uninformed by marketing all sorts of simple and almost magical devices and products guaranteed to provide "near complete relief of all performance and tuning issues". Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth.
While at first it might seem like a daunting task, the more knowledgeable you become with respect to what tuning is and what certain devices and products do or DON'T do, the better off you'll be.
I would suggest you keep your money in your pocket for now and gain as much knowledge as you can before heading down the modification road. This will almost certainly keep you from spending time, effort, and money needlessly.
