Well I would never use an auto lifter in a Harley.

going by their analogy about the length of time for oil to make it to the top end, the top end would be making noise
i run comp 875-b's in mine with zero noise and issues
Sounds just like a sales pitch to me

I run the Gatermans as well. Couldn't be happier.

How long do ya idle? How much oil does the top end need! The oil presure comes up with rpm and the top needs little oil. I have never heard of a problem from anyone using comp lifters. But like oil, run what ya believe in. S&S does make a quality product but they are also sales folks...

I doubt if Comp or S & S make their own lifters. Most likely they will be Delphi, Morel or Johnson. I'd insist on the genuine Johnson lifters for these engines, they will be excellent parts even if you pay a bit more for them.

Morel has stepped up the quality of their roller lifters recently. We just installed the latest version in an automotive engine that we built here and dyno'd. They were limited travel and very close bleed-down rates, showing that they have taken steps to improve the product.

The Johnson lifters are still my first choice for HD engines, and they offer the positive pin oiling feature, which a very good idea as these engine have low oil pressure, thick oil, and as shown in the clip above don't move a lot of oil thru them......Cliff
