Default Road King vs. Road Glide suspension

Hello all -

Questions regarding the suspension on the Rushmore Road Kings v. the Road Glides.

Does the Road King have a slightly higher suspension -- i.e., more "shock travel"? I've checked the "Ronnie's parts finder" comparing the RK shocks and the RG (Std) shocks. No length is specified, but the RGS shocks have a different part number and the designation "low profile" in the description.

So... I'll -guess- that the RK shocks are a little longer and offer more travel?

Also, is it the same with the RK front end, in that it offers slightly more travel?

This is what I -WANT-, that is, a slightly higher, more compliant suspension. That usually offers a better ride.

Thanks for any replies!

Same ground clearance and tire diameters so I'm betting they have identical suspensions

Here is a side by side comparison

the roadglide/roadglide special have the low profile 12'' suspension. the roadking has the standard 13'' suspension, as does the roadglide ultra. so you do get a little more shock travel in the back.

the front suspension is the same between the 4 bikes.

some of the difference you are seeing in the parts finder is the difference between the shocks themselves. you have the 12'' premium hand adjustable, the 12'' low profile air shock, and the standard 13'' air shock.

Besides if you favour one machine over the other just swap it the suspension. I have 13" Ohlins on my RGS for example because I'd prefer the slightly more luxurious ride
