Default Need advice on cfr pipes asap!

Getting ready to pull the trigger on cfr pipes for my 14 sgs. Only thing holding me back is I have read they are hard to tune and run like crap. Anybody have experience tuning them and advise me. Currently running jackpot 2/1/2 header, jackpot slip ons with comp baffles, se heavy breather, and power vision, and bike runs great now with no popping what so ever, just curious if the cfr's will perform decent? Dying to get these pipes after I have read how incredible they sound

I have CFR's on my bike I agree they sound great and the quality is top notch. I think there are better performing slip ons out there but that being said I wouldnt change them out except for a 2 into 1. On my particular build I have a slight dip in hp and tq between 2000 rpm to 2500 rpm but still pulling 120lbs of torque at 3200 rpm. I have no popping or any other running issues. Are they tough to tune? yes but not impossible. If your looking for sound and looks then get them for sure if your chasing HP and TQ then go a different route.

Thanks for the quick response. Not chasing hp or torque numbers, it's a harley and not a race bike like my previous hayabusa, just curious if using the power vision and these pipes will it run halfway decent with no popping/backfiring?

Rarely even rip on the street glide to see how she performs, mostly just cruise around town. Just wanting something a bit louder than my jackpot's and comp baffles, thinking cfr might get me the sound I want!

When I first put them on my bike all I had was decatted head pipe and big sucker air cleaner. I ran a power vision and had very very little decel popping

With the PV tuner, you have the ability to tune any exhaust. Unless you screw-up the install and/or have an exhaust leak somewhere...should be fine. They wouldn't manufacture/sell pipes, if they didn't perform to owner's liking.

The CFR's arent loud when your just cruising around, but they do bark when you get on them but its a deep aggressive sound. I have no problem hearing my radio at 75/80 on the highway

Exactly what I like, something that's tolerable at idle and cruising but opens up and loud under throttle. Pretty much the way my jackpot's are now but assuming the cfr would be a decent amount louder

I've had them on my last couple bikes. I am going to disagree with the guy that says the quality is top notch. The end caps have been peeling on these slip-ons for years. Do a search for CFR and peeling end caps. Cary said it was a bad batch of chrome at the beginning but 4 years later why do I still see post of it happening?

They are a PITA to tune. You won't get it perfect or even close. Can they be tuned enough to not do damage to the bike, yes. Are you going to experience shot gun pops when you rev the bike, yes.. and are you going to experience decel popping, yes. It's nature of having such an open pipe with no back pressure.

Some are probably wondering why I've had them on my last couple bikes. It's because I paid close to 700 dollars for them, and yes I do like the deep rumble. Would I buy another set, probably not.

As for the Harley not being a race bike, I agree. But losing low end torque is about more than just that. It has to do with getting on the interstate 1 or 2-up and having to down shift two gears to get some power to pull you up to speed. I actually had more low end torque with my stock slip-ons if that gives you a better concept of what you will lose.

If I can make a suggestion, I'd check out the Hi Rollers from Fuel Moto. They have a nice deep rumble and from what I've read they tune very well.

Hope that helps..

I also love the sound of my CFRs. But the chrome started to flake on the tips which is BS, they're only 6 months old. I'm selling the CFRs and getting some Bassani DNT megaphones, same look same sound and from what I've read better quality and performance..
