Most of the after market shocks are better than stock, even Progressives. You just have to be lucky that your the one that they were aiming the set up for for mas production. I went with Ohlin's from Howard at MotorCycle Metal. He custom builds the shock to your weight and riding style. That's all he does for fun.

I to have the progressive 944's and really do like em, I needed to lower my roadglide for my short legs. My wife and I both could tell a difference the first time out. Good luck with your decision.
I got the progressive 944 heavy duty and now my bike rides like a hard tail. do your homework. I'm probably going to have to change them out. The wife is constantly grunting as we go over bumps and isn't so excited to go riding as much
Holy smokes tinsnips.. that wont work. With 870lbs of an ultra plus me at 225 wife at 150, I'll want a comphy ride yet responsive. Can't do the bottom out thing
Great replies with some diggin the 944's and some not.
One post mentioned 944 UT. Is there a different model in the 944's?
had my factory shocks reworked by Phoenix Customs two years ago. They do a shock service that they take your vitals into consideration and if you ride two up or not to figure how the shock should perform. I'm 250 and the wife is well I'm not stupid so they got the info they needed and dropped the rear to 11.75 inches so that my short legs have a bend at the knee. I also dropped the front an inch so that there is a good balance to the bike. Progressive kit up front. I run 40 lbs. in the rear all the time and the bike rides beautiful. We ride the Pennsylvania roads Rt.6 and there abouts all the time and it is pure enjoyment. phone number for them is 480-967-7588
