Great replies with some diggin the 944's and some not.
One post mentioned 944 UT. Is there a different model in the 944's?
We tour with equivalent load, maybe slightly more. Found the TerryCable tunable rear shocks to be best for us. Tried Ohlies, Progressives, and OEM.
My girl loves the ride on the Terry Cable Shocks:
http://www.terrycable.com/Rear-Shock-Sets_c_4.html
And, great service, rebuildable, adjustable, etc.
Terry takes the time to visit with you and sets the shocks best he can before shipping; easy install, and adjust.
I've used the same set on our last two touring bikes and Terry has rebuilt them and shipped them quickly.
My 2 cents on this beat to death subject.... Good luck.

The website/catalog has a misprint according to three dealers with whom I spoke about that upgrade. It will fit earlier models. I went a different direction because when they opened my engine, the crank had spun a rod bearing...
Good luck.

You went with the 120ST? How are you liking that? What kind of HP are you getting? Did you consider the S&S? What factors made the difference? Feel free to reply in a PM if this tangent is too far off from the OP's topic.

I weigh 205. My wife weight 143.
Both saddle bags full. Tour pack and luggage rack with luggage bag.
We never bottomed out.
You can adjust the load on the shocks.

I called Progressive and tole them the bike I have. They said the shocks would drop my bike 1".
I said dropping it 1" would make my bike perfect on the height.
I got the part number I needed .

And I asked the people in Ebay if the shocks was the part number that I had.

I've been on the Progressive 944s for a few rides now and I think it's great. No messing around with too many settings, just set the sag and off you go.On my sport bikes I used to love the Ohlins coz you have an infinitive amount of settings to dial in for different track conditions but I don't see the necessity for that on my Harleys. All I need is a suspension that soaks up the little bumps, does not bottom out, handles fairly well through the turns and not going through rocket science to set the damn thing up.Let's not forget that Harleys are not exactly breath taking performance machines in comparison and thus The Progressive 944 seems to do the job real well.
