Stop stressing you are fine I use a torque wrench for engine work and that's pretty much it. Over the years learned the feel of what's right and wrong. I can pretty much guess within a couple ft lbs.

Most cheap torque wretches are not very accurate and the expensive ones need calibrated every so often to work correctly.
Good point. If your going to buy a torque wrench, spend the money on a decent one. Otherwise your just throwing money away. A good practice to help keep your torque wrenches in calibration is to keep them at the lowest setting when not in use.

i disagree. there have been several 'test' reviews where the cheap harbor freight torque wrench has been more accurate than the expensive alternative, even snap on.

Really? I would like to see who authored thede reviews. I have read where new ones were tested and very close accuracy to higher end ones, but Id want to see the how accurate they are after repeated use. Can you imagine if the airlines dumped snap on and we t to HF? Would you still fly lol

obviously, regular calibration is going to be required despite the brand for it to remain in spec.
i too would like to see a long term review, and how close to spec any torque wrench remains.
lastly, i don't care what brand of torque wrench the airlines use. i do care that it is calibrated regularly. but, world of difference between airline use and our hds.....

In our shop we pretty much use Snap On, we torque check them every month on a digital torque tester that also checks pneumatic gun torque also. Been doing this ever since 1985 when we had a wheel come off. The calibration machine is certified every year. I got in an argument with an auditing inspector because he recommended we calibrate each wrench quarterly. I told thats a waste, Snap On specs are to recalibrate when at 3% off and thats when we will do it because the torque tester is certified at 99.6% +/- accurate.
We have wrenches from inch pounds to digital 3/4 drive. Probably 1-3 wrenches will get out of spec once a year or two. Mostly the smaller ones because of gorilla grip or from not backing off the preload.
I got a killer deal on a long handled 1/2" drive S/O one thats 10 lbs off at 150-180 range. After seeing this attached video maybe Ill play with it or spend the $30 to send it in.
