Default My Road King Winter Build

Ok so it's not winter anymore (thank goodness) but I threw some parts at the King recently. Had it for sale, got no bites, got money into it so decided to add a fairing and stretched bags. Really wanted an Ultra or a Road Glide, but I think this is better and I'm glad I went this route.
I researched and e-mailed a few different companies about purchasing one. I read a lot on here and someone suggested Woody's, so I fired off an e-mail and got a prompt response from Glenn. He really took the time to answer all my questions and made great suggestions for the audio components. He had me order them through Amazon to get the best price and had me ship them directly to him. All throughout the process, he was e-mailing and texting me to update the progress, sometimes not during work hours. I certainly would never expect a business owner to make contact on weekends, but was very impressed. His price was lower than the others I looked at and was well worth the money. My painter commented many times that the fairing was very well made and extremely easy to put together.
Just to give another example of customer service, I ordered and had the fairing in September but wasn't in a huge rush to put it on and the painter was busy, so I waited until winter. With my order, I purchased the T-Bags fairing pouch to install behind the windshield. When the painter went to install those, they were touching the bars and wouldn't work. Since I did not want to move the bars as they are comfortable for me, I went out on a limb and asked Glenn if I could return them. He said of course and sent me a refund check before he got them back over 6 months since I ordered.

To anyone looking for a fairing, I HIGHLY suggest Woody's. I couldn't be happier with the fairing and the bluetooth stereo absolutely kicks ***!

I also gave my bike a Woody this winter! I agree with all of your comments about Glen's customer service. I live close enough that I picked it up at his house on a Saturday and he patiently explained assembly procedures. I sent it off for paint and when I put it back together their were some minor fitment issues and Glen was right on top of it. His suggestion were simple and more importantly, worked. The fairing looks like it came from HD he has the design down pat. I now have a "Street King" except for the audio.
I didn't get audio on mine as I wear earplugs or fitted headphones when I ride to save my hearing. I have yet to find motorcycle audio that works above 50 mph with earplugs so I saved the $$ on audio options and use my ipod with fitted headphones.

If HD still made the Electra Glide standard I would've likely bought that, but I love my RK. With the Woody's fairing it's about perfect

Very happy with my Woody, amazed how much more aerodynamic it is much better wind coverage as well. Long live the "Street King"

So glad you posted these pics. I have been thinking about that same fairing for my 2011( black also), it looks great. 2 questions for you, are you still able to use the stock bars and do you get any whistle/wind noise for the small gap around the headlight??

i prefer Road Kings with a shield rather than a fairing , but i must say your painter did an excellent job , that looks like it came from the factory !

Thanks patriot2500. That fairing looks real good. Been on the fence about getting one and a plain-Jane at that. I wear ear plugs as well and have some good noise isolation earphones to use when listening to music. It works well when wearing a half helmet or FF.

The King looks good. Might think about covers for the rocker head bolt, starter, oil cooler and perhaps chrome engine fasteners to finish off that shine.

Yes you can use the stock bars, mine are not, but there is plenty of room for stock. If you had ape hangers, just tell Glen when you order he can fiddle around with the brackets if necessary. There is quite a bit of adjustment in the brackets as it is.

I haven't noticed any whistling yet after a few hundred miles so I don't think it's a problem. I stated earlier I wear earplugs most of the time, but today I didn't wear them on a 100 mile ride and I didn't hear anything but the engine and exhaust.

The fairing outer shell was painted black with the pinstripe, the inner shell is the black gel coat, no paint. I probably could've gotten away with not painting it, but I'm glad I did, I think it looks OEM. If you were to buy it you could probably get away with no paint, the black gel coat is a pretty close match to vivid black, but it doesn't have that "finished" look.

It's a quality product, I recommend it. Woody is easy to work with and as the OP said if your going with audio, he'll usually install it for you and deliver a plug and play fairing.

I'm curious if you saw any difference in handling after the fairing addition? Any more trouble with crosswinds? One of the things I love about my King is how stable it is in bad wind conditions.
