Besides...all these guys can't be wrong...
Mobil 1 is factory fill in:

[ul][*]Acura RDX
[*]Aston Martin
[*]All Bentley Vehicles
[*]Cadillac CTS, CTS-V, Escalade, XLR, XLR-V, SRX and STS and STS-V
[*]Chevrolet Corvette C6 and Z06
[*]Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS
[*]Chrysler 300C SRT-8
[*]Cobalt SS S/C Coupe
[*]Dodge Caliber SRT-4, Charger SRT-8, and Magnum SRT-8
[*]Jeep Cherokee SRT-8
[*]Mercedes-Benz AMG Vehicles
[*]Mercedes SLR
[*]Mitsubishi Evolution
[*]Pontiac Solstice GXP
[*]All Porsche Vehicles
[*]Saturn Ion Red Line and Saturn Sky Red Line
[*]Viper SRT-10 [/ul]
Just curious... what motor companies are factory filling with Amsoil?
That's a good point and tough one to debate. I think I will start searching for Mobile 1 Vtwin. I already run Mobile 1 in all my other vehicles that I give two hoots about.

I like Mobile 1, Royal Purple, Red Line, and Amsoil, that said I think it's all about marketing and advertising. Mobile 1 is all over the TV. It's a name we all see and hear a lot of. Most people would say who and what is Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Red Line,It's all about education. Most of the general public is not educated on oil like we are on the forum. The public hears Mobile and thinks of oil, yeah I saw their commercial on TV.

many will choose mobile-1 and I'm sure a great many of the above mentioned cars using mobile-1 is due to 'accessability' and name recognition (as mentioned by bryan). You can get mobile-1 virtually anywhere. Amsoil.... well that is a little trickier to get it. Companies aren't going to put original fills in a vehicle where a potential buyer asks what oil is in it ... and they say AMSOIL... and they go ... huh???? I gotta find an amsoil dealer for purchasing my own oil? Companies won't sell as many cars that way. However .... that doesn't mean that Mobile-1 is "Better" than amsoil or Red Line. The name is well known as stated and can be purchased virtually anywhere with ease. Almost any box-store and auto-parts store carry it. Very convenient.

I think amsoil and mobile-1 are almost the 'same' I'm sure one or the other is a bit better but I'm also sure statistics can be provided showing why one or the other is 'better'. I'm not as familiar with Red Line so I'm not mentioning it much.

Bottom line... both are good. I went with amsoil because I didn't want to run 20w50 in all 3 holes. I ended up with the amsoil Severe Gear for the Tranny and 20w50 for crank and primary.

[sm=exactly.gif]Doesn't matter which MoCo It Is, It's all about selling a vehichle. Oh it has Mobile 1 in it, I saw that on TV, so It has to be good. It's all about marketing/advertising which = a sale.
I use Amsoil, the lesser known oil.

My oil can beat your oil up!

Your oil has cooties!

It's a marketing conspiracy!

I'm smart...you're stupid!

If it's on TV it has to be good!

I guess the part where I said I wasn't going to get in the the big oil debate went right over a few heads. Did anybody even read what I wrote or did you all just jump to the red print.

I didn't say it was better...I said he would be better off. I'm not going to get in the big oil debate here but I can tell you this...I have used them all. I too have been on the "perfect oil" quest and spent hundredsand hundredsof dollars in the last25 years and came back to Mobil 1. This is not my first TCand I have hadmany HDmotorcycles (and other brands)over the years. I just feel with the experience I have had that the perfect combination for a new HD is...

Mobil 1 V-Twin20/50 in the crank and primary and Mobil 1 75/140 in the transmission.

I am by no means an expert, nor do I sell the stuff...I just know what works.

Besides...all these guys can't be wrong...

I don't see any bike manufacturers on the list!

My feeling is any good oil (Amsoil, Mobil 1, etc) will work well. The cost is about the same.

I read what you wrote and No It didn't go over my head. Did you read what I wrote? I have used Red Line (in the tranny now), Mobile 1, Amsoil (since the early 80's, and in the motor now), and Royal Purple. As I said before they areALL great oils. Amsoil is just easy for me to get a hold of so I use it. I didn't get into a oil debate since I DID NOT say that this oil is better than the other. I just answeredthe question you askedasto why Amsoil is not used as a factory fill. If I could find Mobile 1 V-Twin oilI would use it.

It is OK to change from SYN3 to Amsoil.

If you can find it. Mobile1has better marketing, with the same protection.
