Dunno, I switched to Amsoil 2500 miles ago and damned if it don't seem like the bike runs hotter. I also changed pipes, air cleaner and had the stage 1 download, which should've cooled things off, but it has gotten hot here.
What I can tell you is that whatever difference Amsoil makes, it's not apparant to the rider and the engine aint talking. I didn't notice any difference in the tranny, shifts and sounds the same. I'll probably go back to Harly fluids this summer to see if I notice any difference in the heat.
I changed to Amsoil @ 1000 miles and live in the desert area of California (HOT) - After I changed to Amsoil I seen my temp drop between 10 - 15 degrees on my '07???
Going from syn 3 to amsoil at least in engine for 5k service. Heard all these good things about it too. One time a dealer in reading pa told me that in side by side comparisons engine was 50 degree's cooler? The million dollar question we may never know.
Time2ride I went with V&H Ovals A/C HD Download and I still had some overheating issue. I called the dealer and they said that at the time it would fix the problems (that was in december) I did not have a problem until after it warmed up. So I called them back about it and they said bring it back to have a PC111 put on for 400.00 dollars. They also said if I would have put the PC111 on at that timeI would haveneeded the download anyway. Which is bull they just got me for 149.00. I have learned more on this forum than I have at the dealers. Thanks for the replies I also went with the V&H fuelpack. It has solved the heating problem and the throttle response all for $200.00.
I'm thinking of doing the same. A lot of folks say Mobile 1 is better but I have'nt seen any post where someone is using Mobile 1 in all three holes. I even asked that question in one of my posts. All the responses I got say Mobile 1 in engine and primary but none in the transmission. I think I will go with Amsoil.
I didn't say it was better...I said he would be better off. I'm not going to get in the big oil debate here but I can tell you this...I have used them all. I too have been on the "perfect oil" quest and spent hundredsand hundredsof dollars in the last25 years and came back to Mobil 1. This is not my first TCand I have hadmany HDmotorcycles (and other brands)over the years. I just feel with the experience I have had that the perfect combination for a new HD is...
Mobil 1 V-Twin20/50 in the crank and primary and Mobil 1 75/140 in the transmission.
I am by no means an expert, nor do I sell the stuff...I just know what works.
Besides...all these guys can't be wrong...
