Good catch! I actually wasn't aware that this stuff was derived from their body armor field of business. Makes perfect sense, though. So one could get themselves a bullet proof vest and pants for those gang shootouts, while at it!

Motocross knee and elbow pads work well and stay in place. Good ones are articulated enough to allow you to walk and straighten your arms.

Fwiw, I've got a pair of the newfacelook armored motorcycle pants from amazon and so far, they aren't bad. Haven't crash tested them either mind you. The hip armor does stay in place (as long as the pants actually stay on), and the knee armor is wide so it tends to roughly stay in front of me knees when riding (many others slip to the side).

Best surprise with these pants is they aren't particularly muggy and sweaty. Many other kevlar lined pants are.

They have various products, I have linked their pants with the armor. They have pants without armor or only around the hip and they also have stuff for the upper body and stuff without any armor. Also, the material itself seems to be quite comfortable to wear with a wicking effect.

I have not yet bought anything there but I will soon. Am working with them to get the right size. Stuff isn't cheap but neither is one's life... I also read an (indirect) review on this stuff and apparently it was put on the dummy before they put protective jeans over it to test the jeans. After 40 (!) slides with the same Abra-Guard (various jeans over it to test those) the stuff was completely fine even though some jeans did rip etc. Wouldn't be surprised if you could actually ditch the jeans and just use that for protection alone... but that would look somewhat, well...;-)

I shall try to remember to come back here once I actually had a chance to put it on.
Yeah I think Draggin Jeans has stuff thats similar. I have a shirt of theirs. Biggest problem there was the shirt rides up during riding. Dont think it would be very helpful in one of those unplanned get offs.

Yeah. That wouldn't be any different with the Abra-Guard underwear. I was wondering how to deal with that but didn't think about it any further as I currently don't plan on buying anything for the upper body as I always wear a motorcycle jacket with armor etc anyway (also for its pockets, honestly). Even last summer when it was extremely hot here. It typically does not get that hot that I really would need to take off the jacket or would feel much better without it (unless stopped at one of those lovely traffic lights, of course ) and having to substitute its protection with something else.
Then again, the jacket would probably slide up as well as it's currently not connected to my (motorcycle) jeans which I always wear when riding on one of the Harleys. I will look into sewing something into my jeans so I can zipper those two together. Might work. That, by the way, could also be a solution for the above: a more subtle zipper that doesn't press into the back even when wearing something on top of it. Also, I would think that depending on the seat (especially with a rider's backrest) this zipper could really be rather uncomfortable in either type of gear?!

With respect to the upper body underwear: I don't think I would want to wear that in any case as I do love to take off my jacket and be in a comfy T-Shirt when parked. The long sleeve version would look idiotic and the short sleeved version would probably still make me too hot ultimately (I know me...). So I personally will start with the pants and see how it goes from there.

And with respect to the OPs question: Open helmet, always full finger gloves (mostly HD mesh when on the Harleys), HD boots, motorcycle jeans with knee protection pads and fabric motorcycle jacket with full protection pads (ellbow, shoulder, back). My boots might come flying off, though, as they are loose fit and the jacket will slide up and I might actually lose the helmet as it's probably closed too loosely... oh well, no risk no fun!

I'm impressed with all the gear you guys wear. I personally wear gear all the time, but its not ALL the gear. I always wear my Diamond Gusset Kevlar lined Defender jeans, some type of glove, heavy leather boots, and sometimes a half-helmet. Around my locale I am still usually wearing more safety gear than most. I only wear a jacket if I need it due to cool/cold temps. I don't buy into the covering up in the heat and you will feel cooler. Is it safer?...sure it is, but cooler?...not for me is all I'll say.

I wear full leathers and a full face helmet 12 months a year. Leather jacket, overpants, boots, and gloves. My leathers still show the results of a 75 yard roll, tumble and ragdoll slide down the asphalt a few years back. Glad that I had them on.

The other day as I was gassing up and a lady at the next pump said "Aren't you hot in those?" I looked at her and said "My wife thinks so." She giggled which I don't think her husband liked because he gruffly said "I didn't think real bikers wore full helmets." I just looked at him and said "If by real bikers, you mean members of a motorcycle club, I'm not one. If you mean do I rape and pillage. I don't. If you mean do I cause chaos and fear,... only occasionally. I spent years proclaiming that I didn't give a sheat what other people think. At this point in my life, that is finally true." At that point, I put on my full helmet and rode away.

I'm with you. But it is absolutely fascinating what kind of material is available these days! You will be surprised that with the right stuff even all over your body in the heat you'll be cooler than with a loose cotton T-Shirt. Will it feel comfy? That I'm not so sure about. Will it look cool? Ehm, probably not. Does that matter? Yes, it sometimes does. That's also why I don't wear a full face helmet on my Harley. Only the other bikes. With a Harley things just need to fit the picture as far as I'm concerned. Does it make sense? No, not really.

You don't have to. The facts are the facts whether you buy into them or not. Go into your bathroom and grab your wife's hair dryer. Put it on high and from 2 or 3 inches away, blow it in your face for as long as you can. Now do it again with a FF helmet. Do the same with your arm; first bare, then with a shirt or something else covering it. Then go outside on a hot day and see what's cooler, standing in the sun or in the shade.

Well that's fine, I know many people are in agreement with you and have stated that you stay cooler on a hot days ride if you cover up - I just don't happen to be one of them. My "facts" are based on MY 41 years riding experience, and the hotter it gets the less I wear
